Sometimes,
how it pushes through,
this sudden burst of life,
verdant and alive,
as if unable to wait
the celebration
where everything departed
returns,
is born again
into this beautiful world.
And if you have eyes to see,
you have probably experienced,
at least once,
the miracle of the butterfly.
How suddenly
the earth whispers to the caterpillar,
It is time.
And like so many before us,
we wait,
knowing what is to come.
That behind a dark veil
a body breaks,
is transformed,
as on Easter morn.
And Christlike
it hangs from its post,
wings outstretched and drying in the sun.
Its new body
given gift of flight,
free from this earth.
